Maryland to Virginia - Run the Protected Pedestrian Lane

I have run quite a few bridges by now, and many of them feel dangerous even if they are relatively safe, but most of them are actually dangerous regardless of how you feel about them. The Sandy Hook Bridge, or Potomac River Highway Bridge, on Route 340 though, has a protected pedestrian lane (a bit narrow for biking but doable) for the full 3,000 feet on both sides of the bridge, and protects you from the truck and commuting traffic while affording great views of the river and the tree-covered hills on both banks. Safe runs like this work well with my Crazy Ass Running Plan. #CARPe
