Most of Bear Lake had closed for the season including all of the campgrounds on the eastern side. That let me run (as much of the 52-mile loop road as I wanted) with sweeping views of the lake, the hills on both sides of the lake, the cold, dry mountain air & wind in the company of antelope and jackrabbits and magpies. The hills were up and down but gradual and you could see them coming from a distance.
