The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 35-mile rail-trail project, starting/finishing near the North Carolina Border. The section from North Carolina is almost all slightly downhill and, in addition to offering easy biking, it provides a chance for some easy speed work for runners. In my opinion, a long run here could be the best preparation for the Boston Marathon, since it is the downhill there that really does the damage to your legs. Boston Marathon? That is someone else's
